film is easier to work with and more forgiving. If you end up with film to film contact, or air bubbles, or positioning problems this film will take more abuse before you have to throw away a piece. It also has a lot less tendency to "krinkle" or make little crumples which then remain in the film

The west wall of my living room is almost all window. There was a big camphor tree across the driveway from my apartment, but the landlords removed it. It had been blocking the afternoon sun, keeping my apartment at a reasonable temperature. I don't have air conditioning. After the tree was removed, my living room became unusable in the afternoons and evenings for about 9 months out of the year. My brother recommended putting this on the windows, since I have an aversion to taping aluminum foil to the windows. That was a good call on his part. It took a couple days to install because there is so much glass, and it is divided up into little panes, but it was easy to put on and it will peel off if it ever becomes unnecessary. And unlike with foil, I can still see out the windows.

An unexpected benefit of this film is high contrast. I live near the ocean and we have a lot of overcast and diffuse light. While this film is a little dark, about the same as the Geo, the contrast is really high, making up for the loss of light. It makes it nicer to look out my window and enjoy the scenery.

Our master bedroom is the hottest room in the house solely due to the French doors that get hit hard with the sun. So, does it work? Initial impressions are yes. You can tell immediately whether you're standing in front of a window with film or not. The difference in temperature is that extreme. Does it darken the room? Yes, actually. I was hoping for less of a brightness blocker, but we'll take it to get the heat reduction.

So far so good! It isnt hot yet but can already tell its cooler by the windows I have covered. I have applied vinyl many times so I figured this would be very easy and it was. I only bought thr film, nothing else. I made my own application solution with baby soap and water. Then I used a tape measure, scissors, box cutter, vinyl squeege, pen and the side of the box since I didnt have a big ruler for a straight edge.
